The biggest event in British basketball is returning to Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena (NIA) as the British Basketball League (BBL) Championship Playoff Final takes place on Saturday 12th May 2012.

Thai Edge Host Indonesian Mixed Doubles Badminton Team!

Thai Edge were delighted to host the Indonesian Mixed Doubles Team when they visited Thai Edge in Brindeyplace this weekend with the Indonesian Ambassador after participating in the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships held at the NIA.

Along with the Indonesian team, Danish player Peter Gade was one of the many players who enjoyed the time away from the badminton court at Thai Edge.

This Valentine’s Day, hundreds of eager runners are expected to descend on Brindleyplace, Birmingham for the official launch of the Bupa Great Birmingham Run 2012.

The Bupa Great Run team is offering those who ‘love running’ the chance to win one of ten free places in this year’s event – and to meet British Olympian and Commonwealth Games 400m Champion, Iwan Thomas.

From 12pm onwards, on Tuesday 14^th February, the first 100 people to arrive in Central Square will also get a free lunch, courtesy of Thai Edge restaurant, with music from the brmb street team – the perfect winter warmer!

Birmingham Chilli Festival

As part of the Birmingham Food Fest celebrations Brindleyplace will be hosting the first ever Birmingham Chilli Festival on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd October.

There will be a wide range of stalls offering both chilli-related produce such as jam, chutneys, breads, oils and chocolate as well as food to eat on the day from different countries giving people a chance to celebrate a world of flavour.

The fiery festival will also feature a chilli eating competition, live cooking demonstrations by local chef Head Chef Surachet ‘Boi’ Patpun from Thai Edge as well as entertainment for all ages including live music, dancing, a bouncy castle, face-painting and street entertainers.

Owner Nancy Nathwani of the Thai Edge group says, “We’ll be going chilli crazy this year, so I hope all the Food Fest visitors will join us to see how hot Brindleyplace can get.”

The event will run from Friday 21st October – 11am to &pm and Saturday 22nd October – 10am to 4pm.

Admission to the festival is free.
